North Approach Viaduct installed in Lowestoft

Yesterday, Victor Buyck reached an important milestone on the Gull Wing project in Lowestoft. Together with our partners Mammoet and HEBO Maritiemservice, we hoisted two bridge parts (NAV2 & NAV3) into place with a 600T superlift crawler crane, completing the North section of the Approach Viaduct. We bolted splice plates at the joints to connect the bridge parts permanently. Subsequently, the bearings and the concrete deck will be constructed.

Later this year, the South Approach Viaduct parts and the bascule span will be installed. Victor Buyck Steel Construction fabricates and installs the structural steelwork of the Gull Wing Bridge, over Lake Lothing. The main contractor is Farrans Construction, the client is Suffolk County Council.
